Cairns Western Explorer

This tour travels west from Cairns, through the rainforest of the Macalister range and heads to open savannah country. Our first stop is Barron Falls. An elevated walkway takes you through the rainforest and rewards you with a birds eye view of the valley floor below with viewing platforms of the falls along the way. An even more magnificent view of the falls awaits at the end of the path.

We depart for a wonderful creek lined with swimming holes and waterfall. A rugged tack winds its way to the top of the falls with great views of the flat Savannah country & rising rainforest hills above. While you either relax at the waters edge or walk to the falls head, a Devonshire tea, scones with jam & cream & cup of  tea or coffee is prepared for you.

On to Granite Gorge Nature Park. Here you can follow marked tracks along giant granite boulders that appear to have been thrown and balanced upon themselves. Great photo opportunities abound when the local rock wallabies eat from your hand.

A gourmet picnic lunch is prepared using locally sourced produce. Depending on availability, this can include cold meats, seafood, salads and a complimentary glass of local wine for the adults or soft drink for children.

To finish the day off , we call into RainForeStation and experience some of the local indigenous culture. Traditional dance, spear throwing and didgeridoo demonstrations, try your hand at a boomerang  yourself. We can take an army duck tour and also experience indigenous culture with the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience.
